Staying Organized While Taking Care of Your Clients as a Health Aide

by | Sep 12, 2019 | Home Health Care Service

If you have a desire to provide healthcare to those who are sick or injured but don’t want to work in a nursing home or hospital, then consider becoming a home health aide. As an aside, you will enter the homes of your clients and provide everything from basic healthcare to companion care for those who might need someone to talk to or who might need assistance with cleaning or cooking. Here are some tips for staying organized so that you know where all of your supplies are located and so that you can easily get in touch with the proper people when needed.

Carrying Your Supplies

As a home health aide in Delaware County, you need to find a bag that has enough pockets for your small items and that has enough compartments for the larger items that you’ll need when working with each client. The bag you choose should be comfortable to carry and not be too heavy as you don’t want to hurt your shoulder or your back.

Cushions

While sitting in your client’s home or in your car, you need to have the proper support for your back, such as a lumbar cushion. When you’re a home health aide in Delaware County, you need to take care of your health just as much as you do the person you’re caring for so that you don’t strain a muscle or encounter other health concerns.

Important Contacts

Keep a list of your contact numbers from work as well as family members of all of your clients in multiple areas. You could keep a copy in the glove box of your car or in the bag that you take inside each home. The list can also be kept somewhere in your home where it’ will be easy to see when needed, especially if you’re unable to work one day.
