When it comes to paved surfaces, whether they are in a private residential area or a commercial facility, there are times where these surfaces outlive their usefulness. In these situations, services that provide professional Asphalt Paving may need to be contacted in order to rectify a situation where a paved surface is in bad need of replacement.
Removing the Old Paved Surface
The process of repaving an existing surface is typically quite simple. In most cases, the first step will be to determine the amount of a particular paved road or driveway that will need to be replaced. Once that determination has been made, a special grinding machine will come in. This machine basically chews up the existing concrete, scoops it up and deposits the chewed up asphalt into dump trucks to be hauled away.
Laying Down New Asphalt
After the old pavement has been removed, then the actual repaving will take place. A paving machine will come in and fresh asphalt will be laid down where the old asphalt has been removed. From there, special machines will work to roll over the laid asphalt in order to smooth and compact the new asphalt. Typically, depending on the outdoor weather conditions, asphalt will take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours to properly cure. This means that driving or even walking on the surface will be prohibited until the surface has been properly cured in most cases.
Finishing the New Asphalt Surface
Lastly, if there are any parking lines or driveway lines that need to be laid down on the new asphalt, this will be done after the asphalt has properly dried. This will cause the paved surface to be shut down, but the paint that is used for parking spaces or intersection lines will typically dry in a few hours, especially in warmer and drier locations.
