All of us lead busy, hectic lives with packed schedules and too many things to do in one day. At the end of the day, we’re spent – no time to clean, exercise, or even eat sometimes! Our loyal dogs sit silently by and wait for that weekend walk or car ride to run errands. Dogs need interaction and socialization within their pack to feel secure and safe. Bonding with our dogs is important for this interaction. Here are some great ways to strengthen that bond!
Exercise
Have you ever heard the saying “a good dog is a tired dog”? It’s true! Dogs with too much energy manifest that energy into destructive behaviors such as chewing, accidents in the house, separation anxiety, and more. In Ft. Lauderdale, doggie daycare is a great way to give your dog an outlet for this energy while you’re away at work. However, this does not strengthen the bond between the two of you. Taking a walk around the block or finding a new trail to explore in your local park will give your dog new experiences and different environments to explore, working his mind and body at the same time.
Play
Of course play is a great way to bond with your dog! Dogs play in packs to establish dominance and hone their hunting skills. Have you ever watched your dog play at his local Ft. Lauderdale doggie daycare? The dogs romp and run and play as hard as they can. When we play with our dogs, it is our responsibility to help them release that pent up energy and help them learn at the same time. Try switching up where your dog’s toys are stored and see how long it takes him to find the change. Or, instead of playing in the house, take a new toy outside to romp through the yard and give him more room to express his playful side!
Training
Even if your dog is well trained and knows all of his basic commands, he can always keep learning. Choose a new trick you’d like to teach him and start the training. This time together will allow you to understand how he learns and processes commands, giving you a deeper insight into what really makes him tick.
Are all of these tips something your dog can receive at a Ft. Lauderdale doggie daycare? Yes, but your dog is all yours and his heart belongs to you. He needs these activities with you as well to help him grow whole and healthy!
